Hi Lainie– I discovered your page tonight as I was totally in the pits of Seasonal Self Pity. The more I read and the more I explored, the more I realized that this is exactly the community of beautiful, powerful, honest women that I’ve been looking to connect with. I’m 21 and I’ve been wearing an AFO since being treated for bone cancer 6 years ago. Since then, shoes have literally been the bane of my existence. I’m beginning to feel more hopeful that there are more options for me! Thank you for proving space for is AFO users to connect and find support!
Estela and Lainie’s workshop on “How to Talk to Anyone About Disability” was extremely well received. Often times, corporate workshops can feel ingenuine and disconnected, but their approach was warm, welcoming and brought our employees into a conversation leading to many ‘a-Ha’ moments. What our employees learned will be remembered for years to come and help shape a more inclusive culture throughout our organization.
Pace University was honored to have Estela Lugo serve as our keynote speaker for our Annual Faculty and Staff Institute on Teaching and Learning (May 2022), the theme was “resilience” and all those in attendance were deeply moved and inspired by Estela’s passion for education. The group have since asked that Estela come back for another event to continue this work of advocacy and understanding our own roles we play in the bigger picture. Thank you so much for the work you do, there is no doubt that staff, faculty, current and future Pace University students and the community we engage with will benefit from the interactive work. The keynote was more than a speech, Estela actively engaged with the group prompting thoughtful responses and follow up, no one wanted the session to end!!!!
Lainie – you go Girl!!!! Glad I found your site! I have an invisible disorder and I felt so terrible about it UNTIL perusing your site.
Thank you for being so inspiring, motivational and genuine!
Again, you go Girl!!!!
Thank you for this site. I’ve had footdrop for 27 years. Used to wear spiked heels! Always looking for a shoe with style. Looking forward to having AFO covered so I can wear sandals! Yay! Thank you!
Insightful, clever and poignant, Lainie and Estela brought their experience and empathy to the table to help educate our employees. Thanks, ladies!
Your dynamic personality and inspiring content really connected with the audience….Thank you so much for the wonderful workshop!
Lainie & Estela put on a great workshop at the Abilities Expo in San Mateo! Not only did they have an extremely polished presentation, but they connected well with participants and brought passion to an important topic.
“Words could not express how grateful I am for the impact that you made on our community and leadership at Lockheed Martin a week and a half ago now. I enjoyed your communication tactics and charismatic messaging/entertaining videos more than any other informational session that I have ever been a part of (and I’ve been privy to quite a few.)”
Lainie has literally changed my life via this website and her Facebook posts. I can finally wear fashionable shoes and feel somewhat ”normal” again. I am so grateful!
As a new CMT patient, Lainie has changed my life via her website and her Facebook posts. Just finding shoes and pants for my new AFO journey was a struggle, and you made it fun. I am so thankful to have a great holiday season.

Thank you for providing a positive and encouraging place for my girls.
Thank you for this and for your website!! Because of YOU I got a pair a kick ass boots that I can wear my AFOs in. Took a long time to find but your article was inspirational. I wore them and felt amazing. I know you don’t know me but I think of you and thank you for your strength and support!
Thank you for your website. I recently got diagnosed with CMT and got an AFO. I haven’t wanted to wear it because i couldn’t figure out how to be fashionable at the same time. I googled how to wear AfOs and found your website. It is awesome and I love all the tips and shoe recommendations. I’ve hated shoe shopping my whole life as nothing cute fits my CMT feet right. Thanks for wading through lots of styles to help find good stuff.
Lainie Ishbia and Estela Lugo led a wonderful virtual workshop, “Advocacy is For Everyone: How to Talk to Anyone About Disability” for our students and staff. Their presentation was extremely engaging, and shined light on common experiences and strategies for advocacy in the disability community and beyond. We have gotten rave reviews from attendees — students felt extremely seen and heard, and our faculty and staff feel empowered to be catalysts for meaningful allyship and change. This was our one of our most exciting events with the most attendees since well before quarantine. Thank you, Lainie and Estela! We can’t wait to have you back!
Hi Lainie, I just wanted to let you how much I appreciate your blog. When I developed significant mobility impairments as a result of cancer and found myself in an AFO my favorite pastime of scrolling through fashion blogs and Instagram turned into a huge bummer, and virtual window shopping completely lost its appeal. Enter:Trend-able. I once again have somewhere to turn while killing time in doctor’s Office waiting rooms Thank you! And since I’m here, I wanted to make sure you know about Billy Footwear (You probably do since you seem to have this down to a science), but I ordered my AFO compatible-shoes from there – snakeskin zip-up sneakers. Perhaps not to everyone’s tastes, but as much as I hate the AFO, I do love the sneakers. again!
